  • Welcome to my blog!

A couple years ago I was having a really hard time at my day engineering job. I had the day off and was sitting in the sun on a park bench in White Bear Lake reading Damien Lovegrove's excellent book "The Complete Guide to Professional Wedding Photography" and sought to myself: “If I didn’t have to worry about paying the bills, or making a profit, what is it I would do?”

The answer is I would do something radically different than my day engineering job. I would use a mac (Yeah!), I would wear a suit, and shoot beautiful women wearing beautiful dresses in beautiful surroundings! I guess that means I would be a wedding photographer :-)

So this blog is visual account of my journey pursing this dream. I am constantly learning and perfecting my skills and technique. It’s a long road. I hope you like what you see.

    Thank you for watching,
    Rollin

Fall’s End

Minnesota Fall Colors are beautiful but then there is Winter and all the leaves are gone. I gathered these on my way to pick up the mail in the dark. I hope you like these images – Rollin

Leaves All Gone

It’s was a nice fall day, chilly, a little breezy but that’s nice because it clears any polution away and the sunlight can shine directly without being diffused by the atmosphere, which gives this hard light that creates this high contrast lighting I like so much. I hope you like what you see – Rollin

The following are from this Sunday’s afternoon with overcast skies, giving it a different mood:

Leaves on White

I was taking out the trash the other day and I noticed the wind had blown up some leaves in the corner near the entrance door. I was stunned by the beauty of the shade of yellow I could see. I brought them into my studio and created this image. I hope you like it – Rollin
