Commercial bay, White Bear Lake, MN. The ice is almost all melted away. A couple months ago you could drive an SUV on the lake. Spring is back!

Lake Calhoun, Minneapolis, Minnesota this Saturday February 27. The lake is actually frozen and people are walking on it. This lake and the one north of it are extremely popular. There is a walking/bicycle trail around them. Captured with a basic Nikon D40, a pro-200mm Nikon Zoom. Post in CaptureNX2.

St. Paul Winter Carnival

St. Paul Winter Carnival at the state fair grounds. This was the last day. I got my best shots with my professional 70-200 mm f/2.8 Nikon zoom in aperture priority mode at f/4. I wanted to use f/2.8 to blur the background more but my camera maxes out at 1/4000 sec. I need to pack some neutral density filters if I want to shoot wide open in bright sunlight in the future. f/4 is a good choice anyway because it gives a sharper image. f/2.8 yields a softer image.
